Meet the characters inside the world of Teaching Hearts— teachers, kids, and members of Barangay Kapuso.
Hazel is an experienced volunteer teacher and a visual learner and it reflects on her teaching. She puts a lot of effort into her teaching sessions, bringing equipment to put on tiny science experiment shows to get the engagement of her students.
She loves to make a statement, one might think she’s the ‘favorite teacher’ by the kids.
Tish is a new volunteer teacher recruit. Unlike her other teachers, she’s more of a quiet and shy type, needing to muster a lot of energy to be lively in front of the class.
Where she lacks in social energy however is her patience. She’s very observant and patient towards kids, often seeing things adults tend to overlook.
Kuya Angelo is actually one of the eldest volunteers teachers at the Lakbay Aral Program- by age and residency. He teaches the younger grade levels as well as mentoring the new volunteer teachers the ins and outs when starting out teaching.
Kuya Angelo is an extremely patient teacher who ensures that students grasp the lessons properly
Manong Lito is a sari-sari store vendor at Barangay Kapuso. He loves a chat and is considered a pillar within the barangay. He’s well known with the children of Brngy. Kapuso and is responsible for forwarding the concern for access to education of the kids in the Brngy to the LGU
Caloy is the son of Tita Alma. He’s very well mannered and cares for his mom deeply. Caloy has been out of school for a year now due to the fact that his mother cannot take him to school anymore due to Alma being preoccupied with work.
Often you see him playing with the younger kids of Barangay Kapuso who are still young to enter schooling.
Mari is a quiet kid, some might consider as troublesome or in “another world.” What people don’t realize immediately is that she’s quite observant and loves to draw or jot down every detail that interests her in her eyes.
